It would take a series of novels to answer that question fully. You could say its a insecurity issue but I think that simplifies it to much when we live in a culture where some families pass this trait down intentionally from father to son. The ideology may result from a 'better to be a bully than be bullied' mentality or just fathers taking out there own insecurities on their sons. This creates some very cruel individuals indeed, and assures the cycle will continue.

Well there are innate underlines of homophobia, when I find myself in these situations (more commonly than I would prefer) the innitial assumption is that Im a "fag" or "queer" or some such name, and that my presumed homosexuality is a very negative thing that I should feel bad about. Disregard the fact that Im married to a beautiful woman and have kids, I dont fit their stereotype of what a hetrosexual man should be so I must be gay... I hate to stereotype the people that Im complaining about stereotyping me, but they have a common vibe and I can usually see it coming.

Its a dying breed brother. Such narrow views are slowing the progress of humanity. We progress anyways, we are destine to transcend sex and ego. I just consider people of this type of perspective to be spiritually less evolved. This is really something that can't be helped but perhaps they will get there next time around.
