[glow=gold,2,300]LEMURIA[/glow]
The legend of Mu is found on islands all over the Pacific Ocean. For thousands of years the Polynesians have handed down the story of a civilization in the Pacific that was motherland of mankind.
The name of Mu somehow sounds like an uninteresting contraction of a more exotic name. In contrast, the word Lemuria invokes a picture of a land at the dawn of time, a land forgotten in our histories but not in our dreams.
The name Lemuria resulted from a Nineteenth Century controversy over Darwin's Origin of the Species. Defenders of Darwin had trouble explaining how certain species became distributed over large areas. Zoologists had a particularly difficult time explaining the distribution of the lemurs. The lemur is a small primitive form of primate found in Africa, Madagascar, India, and the East Indian archipelago. Some zoologists suggested a land mass in the Indian Ocean, between Madagascar and India, millions of years ago. An English zoologist, Phillip L. Schlater, proposed the name Lemuria (LEMURia) for this former land of the LEMURS in the Indian Ocean.
Earnst Heinrich Haeckel (1834-1919), a German naturalist and champion of Darwin, used Lemuria to explain the absence of fossil remains of early man: If man originated on a sunken continent in the Indian Ocean, all the fossils of the missing link are now under the sea. To quote Haeckel: "Schlater has given this continent the name of Lemuria, from the semi-apes which were characteristic of it."
Augustus Le Plongeon (1825-1908)
The concept and the name were proposed by 19th century traveler and writer Augustus Le Plongeon, (1825-1908), who claimed that several ancient civilizations, such as those of Egypt and Mesoamerica, were created by refugees from Mu - which he located in the Atlantic Ocean. Egypt was founded by Queen Moo, a refugee from the land's demise. Other refugees supposedly fled to Central America and became the Mayans.
After his investigations of the Maya ruins in Yucatan, Le Plongeon claimed that he had translated ancient Mayan writings, which supposedly showed that the Maya of Yucatan were older than the civilizations of Greece and Egypt, and additionally told the story of an even older continent. Le Plongeon actually got the name "Mu" from Charles Etienne Brasseur de Bourbourg who in 1864 mistranslated what was then called the Troano Codex using the de Landa alphabet. That was wrong as recent translations of the Troano Codex have shown it to be treaties on astrology. Brasseur believed that a word that he read as Mu referred to a land submerged by a catastrophe. Le Plongeon then identified this lost land with Atlantis, and turned it into a continent which had supposedly sunk into the Atlantic Ocean:
"In our journey westward across the Atlantic we shall pass in sight of that spot where once existed the pride and life of the ocean, the Land of Mu, which, at the epoch that we have been considering, had not yet been visited by the wrath of Homen, that lord of volcanic fires to whose fury it afterward fell a victim. The description of that land given to Solon by Sonchis, priest at Sais; its destruction by earthquakes, and submergence, recorded by Plato in his Timaeus, have been told and retold so many times that it is useless to encumber these pages with a repetition of it".
James Churchward
Churchward claimed that more than fifty years prior, while he was a soldier in India, he befriended a high-ranking temple priest who showed him a set of ancient "sunburnt" clay tablets, supposedly in a long lost "Naga-Maya language" which only two other people in India could read. Having mastered the language himself, Churchward found out that they originated from "the place where man first appeared - Mu." The 1931 edition states that "all matter of science in this work are based on translations of two sets of ancient tablets:" the clay tables he read in India, and a collection 2,500 stone tablets that had been uncovered by William Niven in Mexico.
Churchward gave a vivid description of Mu as the home of an advanced civilization, the Naacal, which flourished between 50,000 and 12,000 years ago, was dominated by a "white race" that was superior in many respects to our own. At the time of its demise, about 12,000 years ago, Mu had 64,000,000 inhabitants and many large cities, and colonies in the other continents.
Churchward claimed that the landmass of Mu was located in the Pacific Ocean, and stretched east-west from the Marianas to Easter Island, and north-south from Hawaii to Mangaia. He claimed that according to the creation myth he read in the Indian tablets, Mu had been lifted above sea level by the expansion of underground volcanic gases. Eventually Mu was completely obliterated in almost a single night after a series of earthquakes and volcanic eruptions, "the broken land fell into that great abyss of fire" and was covered by "fifty millions of square miles of water.
Churchward claimed that Mu was the common origin of the great civilizations of Egypt, Greece, Central America, India, Burma and others, including Easter Island, and was in particular the source of ancient megalithic architecture. As evidence for his claims, he pointed to symbols from throughout the world, in which he saw common themes of birds, the relation of the Earth and the sky, and especially the Sun. Churchward claims the king of Mu was Ra and he relates this to the Egyptian god of the sun, Ra, and the Rapanui word for Sun. He claimed to have found symbols of the Sun in Egypt, Babylonia, Peru and all ancient lands and countries - it was a universal symbol.
Churchward attributed all megalithic art in Polynesia to the people of Mu. He claimed that symbols of the sun are found depicted on stones of Polynesian ruins, such as the stone hats (pukao) on top of the giant moai statues of Easter Island. Citing W.J. Johnson, Churchward describes the cylindrical hats as spheres that seem to show red in the distance, and asserts that they represent the Sun as Ra. He also incorrectly claimed that some of them are made of "red sandstone" which does not occur in the island. The platforms on which the statues rest (ahu) are described by Churchward as being platform-like accumulations of cut and dressed stone, which were supposedly left in their current positions awaiting shipment to some other part of the continent for the building of temples and palaces. He also cites the pillars erected by the Maori of New Zealand as an example of this lost civilization's art work. In Churchward's view, the present-day Polynesians are not descendants of the dominant members of the lost civilization of Mu, responsible for these great works, but survivors of the cataclysm that adopted the first cannibalism and savagery in the world.
Churchward's Books
Volume 1 - The Lost Continent of Mu set out Churchward's theory utilizing a "vast knowledge of science, ancient art and history, mythology and the occult" to recreate the splendor and doom of this hidden antediluvian world. Lemuria or Mu was about 5,000 miles long and 3,000 miles wide. The Garden of Eden was not in Asia but on a now sunken continent in the Pacific Ocean. The Biblical story of Creation came first not from the peoples of the Nile or the Euphrates Valley but from this now-submerged continent, Mu - the Motherland of Man.
Volume 2 - The Children of Mu is the story of the pioneers of Mu. Sixty-three million people lived on the now lost continent of Mu over 200,000 years ago. The children of Mu became the most influential people on Earth. Mu had an incredibly sophisticated government, flowering culture and scientific technology. Much of the Lemurian civilization lived in homes with transparent roofs. They built shelters, made clothing, food, and their own tools. They were free from stress and disease, living in peace for hundreds of years. Their psychic abilities were highly developed - telepathy, astral travel and teleportation making traditional communication devices unnecessary. They were primarily a vegetarian, agricultural, outdoor, organic culture that worked in harmony with nature and the land.
Volume 3 - The Sacred Symbols of Mu, this volume talks about the occult origins of ancient and modern religions. All religions have a common origin in the Sacred Inspired Writings of Mu. The Lord's Prayer is to be found in The Sacred Inspired Writings of Mu. Evidence of the Mu religion dates back 170,000 years. These teachings were taught by Osiris, Moses, and Jesus. Moses condensed the forty-two questions of the Osirian religion into the Ten Commandments. Jesus condensed the text to suit the language of his day. The Last Words of Jesus on the cross were in the language of Mu, 'unknown in Palestine'.
Volume 4 - The Cosmic Forces of Mu - Biological evolution is a myth, There is no such thing as atomic force. All disease can be conquered by using appropriately colored light rays. The Earth's temperatures and seasons have become inalterably fixed in their present state and that the Earth cannot be hurled off into space or drawn into the sun.
Volume 5 - Second Book of the Cosmic Forces of Mu - Churchward continues to draw conclusions from the ancient documents and lore of Mu to present some startling revisionist theories about the age of the Earth, the nature of mountains and volcanic processes, the Ice Age and Flood.
Madame Elena Petrovna Blavatsky (born Helena Hahn 1831-1891)
The founder of Theosophy, in her book The Secret Doctrine (1888), claimed to have learned of Lemuria in The Book of Dzyan, which she said was composed in Atlantis and shown to her by the Mahatmas. However, in her writings she did give Philip Schlater the honor of inventing the name, Lemuria.
Mme Blasvatsky located her Lemuria in the Indian Ocean about 150 million years ago. She may have obtained her ideas of a sunken land in the Indian Ocean from Sanskrit legends of the former continent of Rutas that sank beneath the sea. But the name Rutas sounds too spiritless and uninspiring to have held such a prominent place in cosmic history.
She described the Lemurians as the third root race to inhabit the earth. They were egg-laying beings with a third eye that gave them psychic powers and allowed them to function without a brain. Originally asexual, their downfall came about after they discovered sex.
The English Theosophist W. Scott-Elliot, who said he received his knowledge from the Theosophical Masters by "astral clairvoyance", writes in The Story of Atlantis & The Lost Lemuria (1896), that the sexual exploits of the Lemurians so revolted the spiritual beings, the Lhas, that they refused to follow the cosmic plan of becoming the first to incarnate into the bodies of the Lemurians. Scott-Elliot located his Lemuria not only in the Indian Ocean: He described it as stretching from the east coast of Africa across the Indian AND the Pacific Oceans.
In this century, writers have increasingly placed Lemuria in the Pacific Ocean. Even psychics and modern prophets channel beings who were citizens of Lemuria. Today just about everyone who has heard of Lemuria assumes that the legends of Mu are identical with the English zoologist's land of the lemurs.
Edgar Cayce
The Cayce readings refer to a lost continent in the Pacific by several names, but most often it is called Lemuria. Other names are Mu, Zu, and possibly Oz. Some of these may refer to provinces of the continent, or to portions left after a major break-up of the land. Lemuria sank into the sea. Some of the land area changed to what is now a portion of the Rocky Mountains - Arizona, New Mexico, Nevada and Utah. There was an entity among the Lemurian princesses who established the teachings of the Law of One which taught about brought destructive forces in Lemuria before it fell due to separation of love to the gratifying of selfish motives.
Gordon-Michael Scallion
The original Lemurians were thought projections not physically beings. It made them higher in frequency and closer to the Creator's energy vibration level. Their souls came to Earth to experience the physical vibration. They were about nine feet tall, had scaly skin with an aqua cast, which changed from blue to green in conjunction with two seasonal cycles each year. They breathed through their skin, not lungs. Their faces were elongated and oval. Their eyes were large with vertical pupils.
The Lemurian experience began with the projection of 144 soul groups - representing the projection of 33 million souls. They came from Mars, the Pleiades and Sirius projecting into physical form on Earth. Some groups chose water, some the plant kingdom, the mineral kingdom, or the animal kingdom. The greater experiments were with the animal kingdom as this realm allowed for longer life spans and greater mobility. The Earth had interesting species at that time which included giants and elves. When Lemuria fell the souls went on to become the Atlanteans.
Rig Veda
The Rig Veda speaks of "the three continents that were"; the third was home to a race called the Danavas.
A sunken land called Rutas was an immense continent far to the east of India and home to a race of sun-worshippers. Rutas was torn asunder by a volcanic upheaval and sent to the ocean depths. Fragments remained as Indonesia and the Pacific islands, and a few survivors reached India, where they allegedly became the elite Brahman caste.
Hopi Legend
On the bottom of the seas lie all the proud cities, the flying patuwvotas (shields) and the worldly treasures corrupted with evil. Faced with disaster, some people hid inside the earth while others escaped by crossing the ocean on reed rafts, using the islands as stepping-stones.
Rosicrucian Theory
A disastrous cycle began with volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, and the collapse of subterranean gas belts. Magnetic waves moved around the globe and Lemuria sank into the sea. Some colonists reached India and from there Mesopotamia and Egypt while others migrated eastward on crude rafts to the Americas, forming the racial core of the earliest Indian tribes. California was home to history's oldest people: pure Lemurians who later became the California Indians. That could explain why some America's oldest human artifacts were found on Santa Rosa Island off Santa Barbara, dating around 25,000 B.C.
Small groups of Lemurians salvaged part of Lemuria's wisdom, storing the information in Lemurian Seed Crystals which contain the knowledge and story of Lemuria. Later the crystals would be discovered, their messages decoded, when the time would come for anther civilization to return to the sea. This is that time.
The Lemurian Age

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The most efficient way to mark the beginning of the Hyperborean Age (mentioned several times in the following) is to consider the tragic end of the Polarian Age, which also marked the end of the Age of Dinosaurs, as a historic guidepost, about 65,000,000 years ago, although many saurians lingered into the following Age, sharing the planet with Man for quite some time.
The Lemurian Root Race has fascinated students of prehistory for many years and this interest will increase as the threshold of mankind's presence on the planet recedes farther back into the dawn of time. The first fact to bear in mind is that the extended epoch that encompassed the Lemurian Age from it's inception to it's fall, included so many changes in climate, geography, fauna and flora, that the way of life for early members of the race who were Hyperborean in physique and in temperament, was quite different from that of later Lemurian subraces and markedly different from those who established Lemurian colonies in other areas of the world later on in their history. Man's temperament evolved also, subrace after subrace as they emerged in Lemuria's history. The demarcation line between the Hyperborean and Lemurian Root Races is hazy. The Hyperborean were nomadic and probably the only effective means of marking the transition from the Hyperborean to the Lemurian Root Race, is to consider their permanent settlement in a chosen location and the end of a purely nomadic way of life as a criterion.
During the latter phases of the Hyperborean Age, worn and weary nomadic groups traveled constantly, moving on when the environment deteriorated, to seek relief from volcanic upheaval and a polluted atmosphere. The ongoing crisis which precipitated mankind's treks to seek sanctuary from natural disaster reached its climax about 35,000,000 million years ago. Some of the groups that survived journeyed eastwards and eventually, the small clans from Hyperborea that were to bridge the transition into the Lemurian Age, traveled across what is now called Asia leaving small groups of settlers along the way, until some of them came to the land we call Lemuria, much of which now lies beneath the Pacific Ocean. This arduous trekking was of long duration and their nomadic way of life remained harsh as they learned, adapted and overcame their hardships. Both Dr. William F. Warner and the Vedic scholar B.G. Tilak published well researched evidence that the Middle Eastern races of antiquity and the Vedic people of India, recorded facts and information related to the Arctic and it's change to present climatic conditions. Preserved in their written records, are details which could only have been observed and recorded from personal experience.
The first Lemurians were rather inflexible in character, this attitude was to undergo transformation, traversing many stages of behavior, from expressing a grateful, relaxed joy of living to a spoiled selfishness in the latter days of their Age. These of course are very broad generalizations and do not apply to spiritually advanced entities, of whom I believe there are representatives reincarnated to further the evolution of every generation of mankind, nor do they necessarily apply to their disciples. Their racial metamorphosis closely paralleled an improvement in the world's climate and atmosphere, which was also responsible for improvement in their standard of living and eventually led to a beneficent cultural environment. At first, life was simple, they appreciated improvements in air quality, however slight, for they were much more sensitive to diminished pranic inflow than modern man. Their physique was still too delicate to digest solid foods, but they stabilized their physical well-being with a diet of fresh fruits and herbs, which the Devas had already nurtured in readiness for their changing metabolism. They ate simply, with reverence for their nourishment and gratitude towards those who had provided it. Gradually, their lives became less strenuous and they were able to express a more intense joy of living. There was a great deal of interaction between them and their friends of the Deva Evolution and because of their telepathic skills, trust was established between them and most animal species.
They also relaxed the grip of nervous tension that was a physical legacy from their Hyperborean predecessors and in time, their interest turned to pursuits more in keeping with their evolutionary goals.
